Professor Liu Heping, as a Doctor of Arts, is the former dean of the Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation of Beijing Language and Culture University. She currently worked as a member of the Committee of China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters, a director of the Translators Association of China, a member of the Translation Theory and Teaching Committee of the Translators Association of China, a member of International Communications Committee of the Translators Association of China, and a member of the editorial board of China Translation. In 1982, she graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University. In 1990, she graduated from École Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs. She mainly conducts researches in the practice in interpreting and translation, translation teaching, translation theory and the cross-culture study between Chinese and French, translation theory study and the teaching of interpreting and translation. In 2001, she was granted the Palm Chivalric Order in Education by the Ministry of National Education of France.
